Staff were retyping customer, supplier and document data into the ERP from incoming emails and paperwork by hand. Cognima's connector reads that input, maps it to the ERP's own record structure and creates the record through the ERP's own REST API, after an automatic duplicate check.
Our approach
We first mapped the thirteen ERP forms that fit the same extract-and-create pattern, and deliberately took as starting scope the two already reachable through the existing REST API: customer records and service tickets. Writing happens only through the ERP's own API, never around the package. The sensitive point is the duplicate check, because free text must not give rise to a second customer or article, so that check runs before every write. The pattern grows form by form along with the API coverage.
